Whether you’re looking for tuition in mending a puncture or a professional cycle mechanic qualification Oxford Cycle Workshop Training has something for you, including a growing range of smartphone apps.

They also offer a range of other forms of support, like access to workshop space, tools and support to fix your own bike.

Events is another big part of what Oxford Cycle Workshop Training’s members can get involved with, including Alleycat bicycle treasure hunts, bike polo and bicycle scrabble. Watch these videos to get a flavor, or visit the Cycle Oxford CC website for info.

Memories of Magdalen Road

October 20, 2011

10 years after Oxford Cycle Workshop opened it’s doors to offer the cycling community of Oxford support, empowerment and services not available in our beautiful city, we have sold our last recycled bicycle and serviced our last customer’s steed.

Oxford Cycle Workshop will forever have a very special place in our hearts as a hub of positive energy generating so many incredible projects, events & people who continue to work in Oxford and beyond.

We were the first organisation to offer mobile mechanic services in Oxford. A service that James Dawton continues to offer our city with the highest standards and quality advice.

We were also the first organisation to offer our community training in how to fix and look after their bicycles, a project that grew into the setting up of the vibrant community owned co-operative Oxford Cycle Workshop Training.

Oxford Cycle Workshop was also the focal point of a new energy for social cycling events in Oxford, becoming the birth place of Oxford Alleycats, Oxford’s Bike Polo Group and Bicycle Scrabble. All of these event continue to take place regularly, and with the same passion and exuberance thanks to the work of Cycle Oxford CC.

Sadly the one service that has become increasing difficult to offer within Oxford over the last few years is Bicycle Recycling. Difficulty sourcing bikes for recycling and processing bikes at an affordable price have become challenges we were unable to overcome. We wish all those keen to generate recycled bikes for the people of Oxford all the best in that most valuable work.

Curious about the events Cycle Oxford puts on but slightly boggled by what an Alleycat or Bike Polo might be. What these videos and all is explained:

Alleycats take place monthly on the last Friday of the month, kicking off at 6.30pm on Broad St

Bicycle Scrabble happens every Spring and Autumn

Bike Polo takes place every Thursday evening from 6pm at Marsh Road Park
